Quality laboratory
Our quality laboratory ensures that Artech Rubber guarantees quality
Artech has invested heavily in its quality policy in recent years. Not only on paper, for example with structured quality controls and targeted procedures, but especially with the expansion of the testing and analysis possibilities in our quality laboratory.
The physical-mechanical properties of rubber largely determine the behaviour of the product in your application and it is therefore very important that you receive products of consistent quality. To guarantee this, our QESH employees frequently subject products to all kinds of different tests.
What testing and analysis options do we have in our quality laboratory?
The following material properties can be determined in-house by Artech:
✔Vulcanization characteristics (scorch time, vulcanization rate and crosslink density) (ISO 6502)
✔Density (ISO 2781)
✔Different hardnesses (Shore A, IRHD) (ISO 48)
✔Tensile properties (tensile strength, elongation at break and moduli) (ISO 37)
✔Compression properties (how much force is needed to compress or deform something) (ISO 7743)
✔Tear strength (ISO 34)
✔Adhesion to reinforcing materials (ISO 813)
✔Hot air resistance (change in material properties) (ISO 188)
✔Effect of liquids (change in mass, volume and material properties) (ISO 1817)
✔Compression set (permanent deformation, elasticity) (ISO 815)
✔2D-Optimetry (analysis of dimensions and tolerances on dimensions, incl. angles and radii)
✔DSC analysis
- Glass transition temperature (Tg)
- Analysis towards full vulcanization
✔TGA analysis (material composition, percentages of volatile components, polymer, carbon black and mineral fillers) – ideal if you have a product of which you do not (anymore) know the material composition, but which you do need. This analysis gives us sufficient insight to be able to propose a suitable alternative.
✔Destructive strength of entire products, rings, etc.
Do you need other or more extensive analyses?
In addition to the tests and analyses that we can perform in our own quality laboratory, we also work with an extensive network of laboratories that can support us with more specific analyses, such as chemical analysis, FEM/FEA analysis (finite element analysis), specific material properties, fire and/or chemical resistance tests, etc.
Do you need a specific material composition (compound) for your application?
If the compounds that we have available as standard are not suitable for your application, we will gladly develop a new material that does meet the necessary requirements. With our years of experience and specialist knowledge in the field of compound development, our facilities for small-scale mixing and the possibilities within our quality laboratory, we are perfectly capable of developing the right solution for your application.
Do you need consultancy on rubber in general or your products?
With years of practical and academic experience and knowledge of rubber technology and industry, we are very well suited to support you with all your questions or problems. Whether it concerns which rubber quality to use, or to develop a specific rubber quality for your application, or to think along in the development and design of your product, or to analyze what the cause of failure in the application is, the knowledge of this is available within our company and we are happy to share this to search for the ideal solution for you.
