Injection Moulding
Injection Moulding of rubber moulded products at Artech Rubber
Injection moulding is an advanced manufacturing technique for producing complex and precise rubber moulded products. This method offers numerous advantages, including higher production speed, better consistency and precise dimensional tolerances. At Artech Rubber, we use injection moulding to produce high-quality rubber parts, perfectly tailored to your specific needs.
How does Injection Moulding work?
The process consists of five clear steps:
- Preparation of the rubber: The rubber material is fed in strips and heated in the plasticizing unit of the machine until it reaches a liquid, viscous state.
- Injection: The liquid rubber is injected under high pressure through a nozzle into the mould, which contains the shape of the desired product.
- Vulcanization: The rubber is heated in the mould to the required vulcanization temperature, causing it to harden (vulcanize) and take on its final shape.
- Cooling and ejection: After vulcanization the mould is opened and the part is removed. This can be done manually or automatically.
- Post-processing: We remove any excess fleece residue for a precisely finished end product.
Advantages of Injection Moulding
✔ High precision: Highly detailed and accurate parts with tight tolerances.
✔ Fast production: Ideal for mass production, thanks to short cycle times.
✔ Consistent quality: Perfect for applications with high quality requirements.
✔ Complex geometries: Ability to produce complicated shapes and designs.
✔ Automation: Suitable for manual, semi-automatic and fully automatic production processes.
Disadvantages of Injection Moulding
While it offers significant benefits, there are some points to note:
- High initial costs: Moulds and machines require a larger investment.
- Limited choice of materials: Not all rubber compounds are suitable due to properties such as viscosity.
- Technical expertise: Specialised knowledge is required for optimum production.
